The current economic and political scene is in a state of flux however as the Bible says in Ecclesiastes 1:9

“What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.”

Consider this discourse between the Henry III, and the Prior of the Templar Knights In Secret Societies of the Middle Ages, by Thomas Keightley, [1837], We see that the power of the Templar organisation had reached its pinnacle:

“ The improvident and needy Henry III. of England, in general such a dutiful son of the holy father, who, for a share of the spoil, usually aided him in the pious work of robbing his subjects, summoned courage in 1252 to speak of seizing some of the property of the church and the military orders. “You prelates and religious,” said he, “especially you Templars and Hospitaliers, have so many liberties and charters, that your enormous possessions make you rave with pride and haughtiness. What was imprudently given, must be therefore prudently revoked; and what was inconsiderately bestowed must be considerately recalled. . . . I will break this and other charters which my predecessors and myself have rashly granted.” But the prior of the Templars immediately replied, “What sayest thou, O king? Far be it that thy mouth should utter so disagreeable and silly a word. So long as thou dost exercise justice thou wilt reign; but if thou infringe it, thou wilt cease to be a king!”

These bold words appear to have checked the feeble king, who next year besought the two orders to become his security for a large sum of money which he owed. They refused his request, and Henry thenceforth did them all the injury in his power”.

This was extraordinary arrogance by the Templar prior,  for not even the Pope himself had dared to take for granted the power to create and destroy monarchs. It was not the power of the Papacy which emboldened the Templar, but commerce.

The Templar system of individual impoverishment but communal wealth had proved hugely successful and as an order, they now owned substantial estates across Europe and into the Holy land, they were the first truly international financiers bankrolling every throne in Europe. The system they established would become the proprietary business model for future economic institutions such as the East India trading Company and even present day Multi-National corporations, many of whom, still pay homage to their Templar forebears.

This glimpse into history is useful as it reveals something of the relationship between modern day governments and thier economic “handlers”. How many of us are aware of the hidden power of business to create policy? Not many. With the need to curb public spending upon us all, we will soon see how much business is lost to cheaper production bases in India and China because the subsidies payed out to encourage business to remain in production here are simply not available.

Investigative reporter, Greg Palaste uncovered the truth regarding the facility which government makes to business. He called it “The politics of Emptiness.” Corporate lobbyists could influence government to the extent that politics became in essence “Market Led” and this in the mistaken belief that economic forces always find the most efficient route of resource allocation. When such power is given to impersonal institutions, we have problems, especially when we consider that this so called “Democratic” form of government is the goal of global strategists.

There is a passage of scripture which is suspiciously similar to the scenario of power being handed over by government to business.

“Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority” Rev 13:2
